 Lady Lisa Smith

     Mrs. Lisa Jarrett Smith is a native of Durant, MS where she completed high school at Durant Public School. She is a graduate of MS Valley State University and has done further studies at Jackson State University and Mississippi State University. She has served as an English instructor for over 20 years and is currently the school librarian in the Durant Public School District. 

 

     Lady Smith is a former member of the Greater Saint Anderson Church of God in Christ in Durant. There, she served as the secretary for Bible Band, Sunday School, and Y.P.W.W, as teacher for the Y.P.W.W. and as choir director. She also served in District 6 of Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction as the District Chairlady of the Youth Department.  Lady Smith is the wife of Dr. Marcus J. Smith, Sr., superintendent of the Louisville District in the Mississippi Southern Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, and is a member of Warren Chapel Church of God in Christ, “the church where the anointing abides”. Presently, she serves as choir president, president of the Christian Women Council, teacher of the adult women’s Sunday School class, youth sponsor, a praise and worship leader, District Choir president, and co-chairperson of the Louisville District Women’s Department. She is the mother of four wonderful children, Ayrion, Marc Anthony, Marcus Jr., and Mary Elizabeth and the grandmother of two, Isaiah and India.

 

     Recently, Sister Lisa retired after 30 years in the Durant Public School District. She plans to enjoy retirement and enjoy the Lord. She believes in doing “whatever her hands find to do with all her might”.
